ABA Behavior Technician
ABA Behavior Technician
Early intervention for children with autism is one of the most impactful ways to improve their lives down the line. At PRISM Learning Center, we utilize a range of approaches, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), to effectively address various challenges. We believe in the value of early intervention and therefore start with ABA therapy right away. The role of an ABA behavior technician is crucial in this process. In this discussion, we’ll explain what our professionals do and how they can make a meaningful difference in your child’s life.
About Our ABA Behavior Technicians
ABA behavior technicians, sometimes also referred to as registered behavior technicians or RBTs, are professionals whose core function is to help improve the lives of children with autism. The goal is to help them eventually develop the social and language skills that they need to live independently.
At PRISM Learning Center, our ABA behavior technicians use an approach known as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This focuses on breaking down a skill into small manageable steps that a child with autism can use to eventually learn the desired skill. The process involves using positive reinforcements and using repetition to help the child learn new skills.
Using this framework, our technicians develop therapy plans for their clients that they later put into practice. ABA behavior technicians work directly with clients as well as family members to integrate these therapy plans in practical, useful settings. At times, our techs may also tap on other professionals within the field to help facilitate this process.
In addition to implementing these therapy plans, ABA behavior technicians also collect data to help analyze and study patterns (or deviations) that may arise throughout the therapeutic process. Having this information helps our specialists modify and adjust plans as needed to ensure that your child will always be progressing while in our care.
Advantages of Qualified ABA Behavior Technicians
Our ABA behavior technicians are highly trained professionals who can help children with autism overcome the challenges that often prevent them from living life to its fullest potential. From developing language skills to promoting easier social interaction, our ABA behavior specialists work on it all. Some of the language skills they address include verbal as well as non-verbal communication (i.e., body language, eye contact, expressions, etc). This goes hand in hand with improving social skills, as the better children are at navigating communication, the better they will be when interacting with others.
ABA behavior technicians are also trained to help kids with autism overcome challenging behavior. This could include helping the child manage emotions, including developing coping skills and sitting with discomfort. Over time, these challenges start to lessen and they’re able to walk through life with more confidence and a greater sense of ease.
